George Rogers Clark was an American explorer, soldier, Indian agent, and territorial governor. Along with Meriwether Lewis, Clark helped lead the Lewis and Clark Expedition of 1803 to 1806 across the Louisiana Purchase to the Pacific Ocean, and claimed the Pacific Northwest for the United States. Clark County was established in 1801 and is strategically positioned across the Ohio River from Louisville, Kentucky. Clark County is a major transportation hub with Interstate Highway Access, railroads, close proximity to the Clark Regional Airport and the Louisville International Airport, and direct access to shipping on the Ohio River with the Port of Indiana-Jeffersonville facility. The Port of Indiana - Jeffersonville is one of three State of Indiana ports that operate as Foreign Trade Zones. Approximately 2 million tons of cargo moves through the Ports of Indiana - Jeffersonville annually. Clark County has diversified its economic base and continues to expand in exciting new directions. River Ridge Commerce Center© is an example of a new wave of economic redevelopment taking place in the county. The River Ridge Commerce Center© was formerly the Indiana Army Ammunition Plant. The plant manufactured gunpowder during World War II, the Korean War, and the Viet Nam War. Congress declared the property surplus to its needs in 1998 and authorized 6000 acres of the property to be conveyed to the River Ridge Development Authority for economic development and other parts of the property to be used for expansion of the Charlestown State Park. Click here to view current election candidates New 2020 Residential Building Code On December 26, 2019, the state of Indiana adopted and enacted the 2018 IRC (International Residential Code) with the 2020 Indiana amendments. We have made the 2020 Indiana amendments available below and we also have a hard copy available for reference in our office. The 2018 IRC can be found at www.IABO.com (Indiana Association of Building Officials) or www.ICCsafe.org (International Code Council) for reference and/or purchase. There will be training opportunities in the near future to help explain the significant changes in the code and those can be found on IABO.com as well. It should be noted, any permits obtained after December 26, 2019, must subscribe to the new codes.
